SADORUS, Ill. -- Since she began pole-vaulting just two years ago, Taylor Millsap has soared to many personal records (PRs).

Over the past few months, however, Taylor might've set the world record (WR) for the number of times anyone has read her favorite novel, Maggie Vaults Over the Moon."I have probably read it more than 20 times (not even kidding)," Taylor writes in her awesome review (see below).

Taylor's favorite read tells the story of Maggie Steele, a gutsy farm girl from Grain Valley, Kansas, who pours her broken heart into the daring sport of pole-vaulting. Driven by a secret that she dare not share with anyone, Maggie struggles over many obstacles as she attempts to soar waaay higher than her critics think a girl should ever go.Author Grant Overstake says, "It's a great feeling to know that Maggie has inspired this wonderful young person to soar higher and higher!"

Taylor placed 6th at the IESA State Track Meet! Since then she has improved an entire foot!

TAYLOR MILLSAP'S REVIEW:

Hi! My name is Taylor Millsap. I'm 14-years-old and I'm in 8th grade. I started pole-vaulting two years ago when my coach recommended it for me in track. Over the summer I fell in love with pole-vaulting when I attended a camp! One day when I came home, I saw that my mom had downloaded a new book on my Kindle. When I saw that it was about vaulting, I immediately started reading it. Of course I finished it that night, and it was, and still is, one of my favorite books. I keep reading it over and over and now I have probably read it more than 20 times (not even kidding). Since I have read it so many times, I can start relating the book to actual situations when I pole-vault. Like one day my coach told me to go up to a bigger pole. So I imagined the scene when [plot-spoiler removed]. I vaulted on the pole just like Maggie did. Reading about Maggie just always inspires me to do better at practice and camp. During the 2013 track season I placed 6th at the IESA [Illinois Elementary School Association] State Track Meet! Since then I have improved an entire foot! At my latest track meet I made an all-time PR of 9ft 10in. Since my obsession with the book, I told my fellow vaulters that they should read it too, and most of them have. We have crazy conversations about how we relate to the book. I love the book Maggie Vaults Over the Moon and I will never get tired of reading it over and over again and again.

FROM TAYLOR'S MOM, KELLEY GRAVES-MILLSAP:

I was thrilled to find a book about pole vaulting since my daughter, Taylor, has become very passionate about pole-vaulting. And then, for it to be such a wonderfully written and age appropriate book, that was just icing on the cake! The story has been very inspiring for her. It has been good for her to know that things may get tough sometimes but, you can get through it. Taylor continues to set new PR's. Her coach, Bryan Carrel, is very happy with her progress. Sadorus is fairly close to Champaign. We do live out in the country and Taylor's grandpa is a farmer. We do not have livestock but, Taylor does know what combines and tractors are!I am sure Taylor will only be going higher and higher. And Maggie will always be right next to her bedside to cheer her on in her dreams and reality!!!
